Computer Not Functioning

I have a serious problem with my Dell Notebook (Studio OS Windows 7). Situation Today: Very slow boot process with Windows freezing as a light blue window (with only the mouse cursor present!)
Windows began to block about 3 months ago but it was possible to partially resolve the problem (successful boot and internet access) by using the Startup Repair tool.I think that all this started after installing several Mcafee updates at which stage many other abnormal events began to take place: Mcafee Security Center did not open, following programs stopped working: Dell Dock, Driver Restore, Catalyst Control Center, Dell Wireless WLAN Card, Microsoft Windows not responding,Set Point has a problem,PDVDDXS.exe Application error.
After removing all Mcafee products using the MCPR tool, installing the antivirus program AVASTi followed by another program:System Mechanic (Iolo) for cleaning my system ,the above serious problem was observed.I have run the Computer Diagnostic tests (F12 button):
error code 0f00:1344
Msg:DISK-Block 6242312 Can’t read replace disk.These tests are still running.

How do I get my computer running again?

I have not generated any backups and possibly it may be necessary to restore the operating system to Factory Settings.I would like to avoid this if possible.Is it possible to generate a Rescue Disk using the Windows 7 Reinstallation CD supplied by Dell?
