Hi,
I'm facing a problem with my notebook. the OS is windows 7. I'm connected to my office network using utp cable. It worked fine.
The problem occur when I try IBM Cognos 10 Developer Edition trial version ( At least that's what i think causing the problem for now ). After completed the installation, it showed a busy status. Confused, i uninstalled the software. But then I realized that I was disconnected to my network ( I didn't check the connection when the software were installed).
The ethernet card's light is on, and when i checked the config, the IP address was right : 192.168.100.12
I can ping my own IP but fail to ping other computers, even to the gateway.
My network shows as unidentified network and I can't see other computer in my network.
I've tried to turn off firewall,delete/detect connection,disabling/ enabling the card, uninstall & reinstall the card. No luck.
I've tried rebooting my notebook several times.
I've tried using the cable with another PC and it worked fine.
I only use Avast antivirus, and it was disabled.
I checked services.msc and found nothing strange ( with my limited knowledge, that is ).
Can anyone help? Thank you very much
Chung Yie

Hi there,
I'm recently upgrading my entire system, except that I will be keeping my HDD as an archive drive whilst booting Windows and Games from a new SSD. To do this, will I need an entirely new copy of Windows, as I will not be using Windows on the previous HDD?
I was hoping I could just reinstall using the same disk and enter the same key.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete

I prep a 1tb, 1.5 tb or 2 tb sata drive on Windows 7 Ultimate System A and put it in Windows 7 Ultimate System B and am asked to format it (It was prepped and had a couple of files on it). I take the same drives and prep them on System B, put them on System a and am asked to format them. Both systems are Intel MB's with SATA docks. Both systems CMOS SAta setting are AHCI. Can anyone explain how this is happening and how I can correct it. I use these drive to move data bwetween these system, or that was the plan anyway.

Hello there :3 I recently upgraded my OS to 64bit and noticed a very, very annoying issue. Active window randomly blinks (not only blints, but "refreshes" itself, that can be noticed in a task bar as window disappears in it for a quarter of second and then appears back and the responding of it stops for a moment). And it greatly affects my gaming experience as well as when I'm holding any button, after window refreshes I need to press it again and in certain games it's frustrating, annoying and distracting. Please help me to solve this very weird problem :3 Drivers are up to date (yes, all of them!). Thank you in advance :3

Hello! I so glad I found this forum. My first post:)
I have spent days trying to figure out why I can't get any sound from speakers. I have done the trouble shooting feature on audio and is says no fix detected (something like that) I have up loaded the reltech HD (sp) audio etc.
What I believe is the problem is my media bar is stuck on and nothing functions and the audio on the bar is stuck on mute. (I can use the slider on screen and everything is NOT muted)
Do I need a new media/strip cover? if so, how do I find a part #?
Or is it a sound ribbon I need to replace?
Thank you in advance

HP Pavillion Running Vista 64
I used chkdsk yesterday and once finished and the computer rebooted I noticed some problems.
First the volume, network, and power icons are gone from the taskbar and when I right click properties they are greyed out and cannot be checked.
Avast failed to load because a file is missing.
Internet Explorer will not load, (nothing happens, under processes it pops up then goes away real quick)
Control Panel does not work... It opens and shows all the options but when I click to open anything within control panel i get a white screen that says "the page failed to load. This also happens in safe mode.
Games and other programs seem to work so I think maybe chkdsk deleted some files from within the windows folder? and I dont have the install cd to repair. I ran sfc /startnow and it found corrupted files but could not fix them.
I read about someone having a similar problem and what happened was chkdsk had deleted some dll files and once they were replaced the pc worked again... I dont know how to tell whats missing or how to reinstall it.
Someone help please!!!

I have a DELL Inspiron laptop (not sure of the model) but recently (in the last 2 1/2 months) the screen keeps going black it happens nearly everyday now, the laptop's still on as i can hear the background noise and the light is still on. I have turned sleep mode off so it can't be that, and i have to press the on button repeatedly for about 1-2 mins until the screen comes back on, and i then have to log back in.
I'm really worried it's the screen, but ive only had this laptop for 1 1/2 years, surely it can't be the screen in that short amount of time? i hope you can help, and please answer me in lamen terms i am not computer savvy at all!
I'm on Windows 7 if that will help anyone, is there anything that i can do so my laptop will tell me the exact problem? i've tried trouble shooting but it doesnt come up with anything

I need help!!! I recieved the following error message when I power on my windows 7 PC.
I/o error.
Win Boot Mgr Error 0xc00000e9: Unexpected I/O error

Here is a picture
Anyways, I narrowed down the problem to a secondary harddrive on the computer. I was wondering if this means that harddrive is broken or something else is up. I just want to know if it is recoverable.

Just built a new computer few days ago and occasionally, everything freezes, says "Microsoft Windows is not responding" and I have to restart my computer for it to work.
My mouse can move during this time but everything else is completely frozen.
This happens out of nowhere, whether it's me playing a game or watching a youtube video. Any suggestions?

I bought an HP laptop with windows 7 and a radeon graphics card about five months ago. It's been giving me occasional startup bug
http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ml#post3929191
but today it completely died on me. I left it asleep for a few hours in my backpack, and when I flipped it back open I was greeted with the usual login screen. Except that the top quarter of the screen or so was cut off and replaced with a black space with green dotted lines and the lower half was tinted white. Moreover, the colors slowly began to change, and there was no mouse cursor.
I force quit and have since tried booting it several times. Every time I'm greeted with the same segmented screen, and both sections slowly drift between an array of colors and textures (mostly white and grey). I can hear the normal startup welcome sound so I think the programs themselves are working fine. I just cant' see anything (including the mouse cursor).
I'll hopefully be taking it into a repair shop tomorrow but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone had any diagnosis or suggestions about what might be causing this, and how serious it might me. From what I've seen on google it's probably a hardware issue but I have no idea how long it would take to fix.

Hi,i'm having some really annoying problems with my USB stick. The first is that I only get around 9-11 MB a second when I should be getting around 15-20 or higher right? OR is it being slowed down due to the HDD only being a WD20EARX 2TB Green,as it is a power conscious HDD and doesn't run at 7200RPM or higher?
The other problem is that the USB stick only gets recognized on some of my USB 2.0 ports, and on none of the USB 3.0 ports until I go to Control Panel>Hardware and sound>Devices and Printers. Then I open up the Verbatim Drive and it then comes up in My computer, and with the auto play prompt. I've no idea what's going on,help would be muchly appreciated - Matt.

I'm running windows 7 64 bit software on my desktop.
One evening my pc was making alot of noise while I was in bed. I didn't feel like turning on the screen and shut down correctly. So I switched the power button off (Yes, I know.. that's something I will never do again)
The next morning I started the pc and the infinite Startup Repair loop showed up. I select the keyboard input and select Next.
It searches for problems a couple of seconds and the following text shows up for a fraction of a second:
Attempting repairs. Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete
Then the blue progress bar dissapears and I'm told I should Restart my computer to complete the repairs. (Nothing is repaired and I return to this screen every single time)
The diagnostic and repair details:

The things i've tried to fix this didnt change a thing. Safe mode also returns me to the Startup Repair loop. The same counts for every single option I get in the advanced startoptions (f8)
I never made a backup because this desktop (2 years old) always ran smooth and withouth a single problem. I would really really like to save all the data on my HDD.
I'm desperate and have been on it for 2 days withouth succes :banghead:

I am currently working on a Toshiba Satellite L745-S4210. It currently has Windows 7 (64-bit). Every time I turn on the laptop and log in, I get the error message above, "SOS.Messaging has stopped working..." and then Windows tries to find a solution, but is unsuccessful. It does not seem to cause any issues with the computer, I just get that pop-up error message every time...
I have searched the internet, and only found one other person with the same question, "How do I fix this?" Unfortunately, no one has an answer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time... You guys were very helpful in the past... :thumb:

Hello,
please can so help? Last weeks I experiences more and more system crashes - I researched a bit other forums - and come to the conclusion that it happened after restarting from hibernation. It does not happen since I do not use hibernation.. After the crashes I decided to backup files on external disc - I run for the first time the steps system suggests for that. It was 2 weeks ago. I experience for the last time (maybe since the backup..) that my physical memory goes superhigh (before around 1 GB, now permanently >2Gb. It slowes down so that I cannot work! WebKit2WebProcess and safari are the main processes.. Hmm. Since I have not have it before I just wanted to take some automatic restore point and restore my system to 2 weeks before - BUT I discovered that there are no restore points on the list (is this bcs of the backup?). I am getting crazy!. Can so recognise what is going on and help pls?
Thanks guys!
KC
