Desktop Window Manager has stopped working and was closed

Hello guys,
So i installed windows 7 ultimate yesterday and installed all needed programs, and I've got "desktop window manager stopped working and was closed" error every time i would startup, so I tried to fix it, and read here at forum that you could just make new profile user and it would be fixed, after that i had another error and that's "OEM stopped working" when i would try to open single picture. I thought the best solution would be to reinstall windows. I installed windows 7 again but this time it was proffessional, I installed again almost every program i needed, which i constantly use, and everything was working great, then i remembered that i didn't install AMD gaming evolved(raptr), it requested restart so i restarted, and then error came back, tried to uninstall the raptr, but errors were still there(desktop window manager stopped working and was closed, and when picture opened OEM has stopped working). Please help ASAP

Hello again,

Which DNS servers are actually used: the ones in Windows 7's Network Connections or the ones in the router ?

My router's DNS isn't the same as in Windows.

(Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Netgear D7800 Nighthawk modem/router)

Blue Screen after VMTool install on Vista

Good morning everyone.
I'm currently running a Windows 7 Virtual Machine on my Macbook Pro, and inside the Win7 machine, I'm using the vSphere client to connect to one of my servers that has multiple machines on it. I have about 20 different Windows boxes, and all are fine and dandy when installing the VMTools on them, until I get to my WinVistax86 & WinVistax64, after the install, and reboot I get a Blue Screen, yet it only happens after the install. Without VMTools the machine runs great. Has anyone else ran into this problem with this specific OS?

Thanks in advance, gents.

[SOLVED] Looking for a data recovery program

A little while ago I got support on here and had a program recommended to me that let me get data off of my almost dead hard drive. I seem to remember that the hard drive wouldn't be accessed by any normal means and didn't even show up in any of the hardware lists on my system normally.
Anyways, I forgot what it was called and don't seem to have the program any more. Little help?

loss of connectivity to mouse and keyboard

So this issue started with my new build. Originally I was using a Logitech G19 keyboard and Logitech Performance MX mouse. After building the PC, I updated to the latest BIOS version. After installing Windows and during the numerous reboots when installing updates/patches, I noticed that sometimes as Windows was loading, my keyboard would not be lit and thus I could not enter my password into the login screen. A reboot or two would usually resolve the issue so I was just dealing with it.

Now, starting two weeks ago when I upgraded to a Razer BlackWidow Chroma keyboard and a Razer DeathAdder Chroma mouse, EVERY time that I boot, the keyboard/mouse will light when the PC is powered on and remain lit until Windows splash screen. Then, right before the login screen appears, the mouse and keyboard lights will go off and I will not be able to login to Windows (ie: keyboard and mouse do not function). However, if I move the mouse as the lights go out, the lights will come back on and both will remain operational.

As this occurs towards the end of Windows loading, I'm leaning towards this being a Windows issue. I've just never seen this before and have no idea how to fix it.

I can give the full hardware specs if needed (or you can check my system details to the left), although I don't see how other hardware would be a factor.

Wow sounds like what is happening to me. Has happened or 4 times. I'll be typing away or reading something online or playing a game and then Bam! All of a sudden it happens. A Blue Screen full of words that I can't read all of it because it happens so fast. Then my machine restarts and does a disc check I think it is...

High power usage windows 7

So, after battling a myriad of problems with windows 10 for months now I've finally given up and went back to windows 7 and I'm noticing one main problem.

I was pulling 55 watts from the wall at idle with windows 10 and I am now pulling 120 watts from the wall with windows 7 with the same exact OS power settings, BIOS settings, and no Hardware changes.

As this is a HTPC, it is on idle a lot and that extra power is going to cost.

Is this normal? Does windows 10 really have half the idle power requirement of windows 7?

Hardware is:

AMD FX-8350
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
Nvidia GTX 670

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

*Also I'm not seeing any abnormally high CPU usage or anything like that.

Store System Restore Points on Another Drive?

$

My boot partition is about 160 Gbytes, and resizing it is a pain. I limit my System Restore points to 8 Gbytes total, which leaves me only 5 or so. I have a 2 Tbyte data drive, that is less than 10% full, and wouldn't mind allocating 100 Gbytes of it to System Restore.

Read an MSDN post that said it can't be done, so I already know it probably can't be done. But, in case there's a way to workaround (direct quote) "the way the system was designed", I thought I'd ask.

Is there a 3rd party software that does the same thing as System Restore? I needed it this weekend and none of my 5 restore points would work.

Also, while I'm thinking about it, what's the current recommended "driver clean-out" software? I think my mouse drivers got corrupted and I had to manually hack the registry to get rid of them, as uninstalling and reinstalling kept reinstalling the same corrupt drivers. Not sure if that's related to my System Restore problems or not.

No Wifi Option After Installing Windows 7

Hello,

My hp laptop 15-af161ca was "born" with Windows 10. After the anniversary update, my laptop slowed down considerably so I decided to install Windows 7.

After installing, I can no longer access wifi and I have no Bluetooth option. What can I do to remedy these issues?

I am connected through an ethernet cable so I know that connecting to the internet is possible, however, not wireless.

Thanks,
Thomas

MBAM finds nothing.
Windows Defender finds Nothing.
MBAM Chamelon finds nothing.

When typing, suddenly I'm six words in front of what I see...or it simply drops characters.

Clicking on drop boxes sometimes requires four or five seconds to get the list to appear.

I've allowed grandkids to use this computer recently...lol...

Startup from restart never works...Drive spins up to max speed and then nothing....I've let that go for close to 30 minutes once and it never actually booted...I have to hold down the power button till the system shuts down and turn it back on...

I also can't seem to load to Safe Mode...it starts normally with the scrolling file names..then the screen goes blank and the light that says there's input to the screen goes from blue to orange (off).

Hopefully just something stupid that none of my scanners are finding.

I let windows update download and install KB3181988. It would not install it, even though going through the process where it downloads, installs and reboots.
I ran a check on it. Please see attached file.

Resetting or cracking Vista Home Premium User Passwords

Hi I am trying to fix a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop computer, that appears to have no physical issues, only software issues. I think that the OS has been somehow corrupted. I have researched this computer and it should have a way to Factory Restore it by clicking F8 while it is booting up, when you are in the "Advanced Boot Options", then you click "Repair My Computer" and it takes you to a screen where you need to choose a user and log in. Well the person I'm fixing this comp for gave me her log in or what she remembers it to be, but I have tried it over and over, and it isn't working. She hasn't used the comp in a few years since it became corrupted, and I think she must have remembered the password wrong. Anyway, long story short, I need a way to either to hack or crack or reset the password so that I can "Factory Restore" the computer, or at least try to "Factory Restore" it. I spent most of yesterday trying different options from the internet and was so far unsuccessful.

Things I've tried so far:

Puppy Linus Lucid 5.2.8.7, as well as Puppy Linux slacko as live CDs to get to the "chntpw", but it was not available on those versions.

"Ophcrack" but that didn't work.

Live CD of chntpw, and that didn't work.

I'm wondering if there is a way I can add chntpw to my puppy linux live CDs, so that I can use it on them?

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, or if there is some other way that I can "Factory Restore" the Vista Home Premium comp without a Vista Disk.

Thanks so much

This is what I get when I'm trying to select how I want it installed. I've never built a computer before, but I was given a pretty good custom built pc that apparently wouldn't start. It started once for me but I didn't have my internet set up right so I didn't try again for a while. I've clicked on all of the options I was given: Floppy disk ,cd, and something else I assume is the hard drive and all I got was the message in the pic. Please help, I'd really appreciate it and more layman terms/instructions would be best, thanks!
