Wednesday after I got home from work and booted my computer, I noticed it started booting up extremely slow. I would get this message that would say Windows failed to start, and a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. I would try to go to the repair option and on the loading screen it loaded and I got to the starting windows screen, but it wouldn't load past that. I might not have left it on long enough.
Thursday, I tried to restore it from my Windows 7 disc. This process was also extremely slow, it took over an hour but not quite 2 hours for it to finish. After this, my computer boots normally and I don't receive the "Windows failed to start" message but is still slow. After I get to the desktop, it doesn't freeze up but is slow sometimes when for instance switching through tasks like my tabs and windows, but nothing too bad.
Considering my computer was fine wednesday afternoon before I left for work that day, and that it is only extremely slow during boot up, I'm guessing this is a hardware issue. I had artifacting issues back in september and since then have sent my computer to XoticPC who switched out the gpu, though I don't know if this problem is related to that or not.
For a few weeks now, the battery taskbar icon has told me, "Consider replacing your battery". The battery runs out faster and has to be charged quicker, so I need to buy a new battery soon regardless, but can a battery affect a computer's performance at all? I have tried using google to find an answer but everywhere I've looked have said no. If it is not my battery, what else could it be? I can't find anything else that would be wrong with my computer.
I haven't tried reinstalling Windows 7 yet. I want to see what all I can try to do to fix the problem before I do that, as I won't have time to do that until later in the week.
I have done disk defragment, ran an Avira scan, ran a MalwareBytes scan. Nothing changed. What else should I do to try to find the problem out?
Here is my computer information. I own a Sager np8150.
