Win 7 64 bit SP1. Attempting to install m-audio 2496 driver version 6_0_8 using an exe file. I was told to do this by m-audio support to try to overcome some problems with clicks and crackles in the card.
But when I try to run the installer, I get the message that the application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect.
Support told me to try to install the drivers manually using the device manager (!) but as I pointed out to them that does not work because ....the drivers are tied up in the exe file.....however....
Then it was suggested that I install C++ 2008 redist. That did not work.
So what is causing this side by side error?
It's nearly two weeks now since I started to ask them for help, so I am a little desperate. Any help would be appreciated.
