Some time ago, I decided to install several updates onto my computer, such as a BIOS and a sound driver update. however, after performing these updates, I noticed a rather annoying problem: whenever I perform even the smallest action, I get very noticeable lag - more precisely, the PC takes a while to respond and the sound that should accompany the action takes a few seconds to play. The most obvious example would be navigating the Windows Explorer, where clicking on any folder on any Drive would take 2-3 seconds to load, and the little 'click' sound would play only after about 5 seconds. However, once a program is loaded (a video, a game) the problem seems to disappear and there is no noticeable lag. I originally thought this was a sound driver problem, but I have tried installing a bunch of different ones, with no result (though perhaps I did it incorrectly). I do know, however, that loading the PC into safe mode eliminates this problem completely, so this is almost certainly a driver issue, and not a hardware issue. I should also note that a a sound driver roll-back is probably impossible, since I have installed a bunch of different drivers since the problem arose. Some help would be greatly appreciated, as this problem has been slowly driving me insane. Thanks in advance.
