I've spent some time trying to overcome the above problem, which came to light via an action centre message yesterday. This follows on from another problem where I had 2 Microsoft Updates which kept installing themselves over and over. I ran various 'Fixits', which didn't, so eventually I just hid the 2 offending updates.
I have tried a system restore which didn't work, and now I find that there are no restore points before today's date, and yes, I have clicked on 'show more restore points'.
The Windows update service is set to Automatic (delayed) but wont start no matter what.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
