Issues with sleep/power save modes

Hi everyone. Basically when the PC goes into sleep mode it often has issues coming out of it. For example when you press the keyboard or mouse it sometimes does not respond. You then proceed to hold down the power button but this doesn't do anything either forcing a hard power down to reboot.

Upon reboot the bios seems to have an issue requested on start up whether to edit settings or use default (F2) and continue. I do F2. PC goes on and stays "restarting windows" only to come up limping. Clock is back in 2004 and so forth requiring another reboot to get things back to normal which solves the problem.

Why is this occurring and should I just turn off all power save options which I prefer not to? Any advice is appreciated.
