360 controller, no receiver, win7...

Hiy all,

I'm hoping this is an easy one...

I'm using win7 x64, and wish to connect my dodgy xbox 360 controller without having to buy or build a receiver...
i found this forum when the following thread came up on google:

unlike Vlad, i have no plug and play usb cable... my controller has been powered by a cut up usb cable, wired on to the battery springs on the underside of the controller... this has been fine for use on the 360 console... as the controller believes it is battery powered and connects wirelessly without problem.

i am probably being a cheapskate for trying this :whistling: but if i can save money, i will.

is this enough information for you?
i basically want to connect the controller through my laptop's wireless if possible.
