RE:
HP Pavilion Entertainment PC Notebook DV4
Serial CND 00315H7
Model dv4-2145dx
Here is a short story of what is wrong and the sequence of events
1. Kids on computer
-garbage loaded
-computer is all messed up and has a virus
-kids let it sit around and extra warranty expires
2. Mom needs computer, so Mom is going to try to fix the one described above
-sends away for system recovery discs
-discs won't boot so called HP for help
-HP tech walked through system recovery boot sequence and got disc one going.
-when finished with disc one and prompted to insert disc two the disc two won't boot.
3. Now when powered on the screen says "BootMgr" missing and "Control Alt Delete" Restart is prompted.
4. IT friend says that the hardware is okay but the operating system is missing. OH NO, mom is afraid she may have changed something in the system config that did this or that she accidentally deleted the OES.
Should I buy a new OS (Windows 8 now) and try to install it?
