Backup and Restore to External Drive

Is there a free program that would enable me to backup various family members computers to an external hard drive (I fresh install, run all updates, update driver, put in some of their software like Google Chrome, etc.) and whenever they run into problems I just load that image? Is there a program for that? I'd like to be able to place multiple system on my 2tb external hard drive.
