[SOLVED] ALT key behaving differently - Help

Hi,

I am new here and would appreciate some help.

My Alt key when pressed now, in word goes to the file menu and if pressed say on facebook chat, is opening another page.

I use the alt key for inserting symbols via codes in word and need it to work as per normal.
