Hello. I'm going to be one of those people who made an account here because it's the first result for a tech support forum due to it's name. Hopefully someone on here knows a bit about what's going on, as help would be much appreciated. As I said in the title of the thread, I'm have several problems and I'm unsure if they are hardware or software related.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1545. It's about 4 years old. I am running Windows 7.
The problem possibly began a few weeks ago, when my AVG (virus/spyware protector) detected two trojans that they could not remove from my registry. As a default response, I used a System Restore to a point before I got that notice. I made sure AVG was up to date and ran it again, it did not detect the trojans anymore. I have run AVG scan several times now and it doesn't detect anything, so I'm unsure if this incident is related or simply a coincidence.
The true start of my problems was several days ago, when my laptop was no longer able to come out of sleep mode. I would close the laptop, leave it be, come back to it and when opening the laptop nothing happens. It remains a black screen and the only way to get the laptop to turn back on is to turn it off and reboot it via the power button. This does not happen every time, but definitely the majority of the time. Just to make sure it wasn't the problem, I updated several of my drivers (audio, video, BIOS), which did not resolve the problem.
The problem has now escalated, as I also cannot restart my laptop naturally. When I press the restart option from the Windows button on my desktop, it begins the process of shutting down properly, but hangs on a black screen like when I try to open my laptop. I have to press the power button to actually turn the laptop off, and then again to turn it back on.
Just recently a completely new problem has begun as well. After a few hours of use, my connection to the internet will fail. The internet itself is working fine, and all other devices can connect to it. However, the laptop itself loses the connection to the internet. Using Window's options to detect a problem brings back no results. I must turn the computer off and then back on to get the internet back.
At this point I feel all these problems must be related, as they all began happening now at the same time after four years of proper working use. I should note that my battery is also dying, but I've been using the power cord to keep the laptop online. I've been using it like this for a few months, so I'm unsure if this is related or not.
I know there's not much to go on here, but hopefully someone knows what might be the cause of all these issues.
