My computer won't boot beyond the motherboard splash screen.
Specs: Custom build - about 6 years old. Dual boot system with two WD hard drives, one 750 GB SATA with Windows 7 SP1, the other 350 GB SATA with Windows XP SP3, Intel E6750 2.66GB processor, ASUS P5N-E SLI motherborad, Thermaltake 500 watt power supply. For my uses and low level game playing by the teen, the computer has been flawless since I added the dual boot with Windows 7 a couple years ago. Only use Windows XP when I need to print to an old HP laser printer that I cant get to work with 7.
Shut down last PM. When started this morning, the computer hangs at the ASUS motherboard screen. I did a hard shutdown multiple times. Then after reading multiple threads on this site and searching Google, I tried booting from a recovery disk and the original Windows 7 disk (I have CD and DVD drives and tried both of those dont know which would be the bootable drive; both with no results). I cannot enter setup or the BIOS Post Message following directions on the bottom of the splash screen. I replaced my wireless keyboard with an old keyboard just in case, no help.
Any suggestions at this point? I guess the next step is to go into the machine, but then what do you suggest?
Thanks for your help and happy holidays!
