Win 7 64 on an ACER D260 netbook.
In attempting to update Quickbooks 2012, I get an error 1603 and the update is cancelled. I used to think that was a problem with QB, but that si a Micrsoft error.
Causes supposedly are:
The folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to is encrypted.
If that is true, how do I "uncrypt" it. I installed QB on that machine and never encrypted anything that I know of.
The drive that contains the folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to is accessed as a substitute drive.
It is installed on the C: Drive, How could that be a "substitute"? For what?
The SYSTEM account does not have Full Control permissions on the folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to. You notice the error message because the Windows Installer service uses the SYSTEM account to install software.
This only applies to Windows 2000 and XP.
What can I do?
