Please bare with me as I am not very computer literate........thank you.
I have a desktop (upstairs) and a laptop I use via WiFi. Since setting up my laptop (several years ago) with the WiFi connection it has been my go to computer as it is so convenient. The laptop (WiFi connection) has worked well, not only at home but has been reliable when taken out in public.
I have a cable modem connected to an EnGenius wireless router and a D-link adapter (connected to the desktop).
Several weeks ago I started getting an error message (on the laptop) saying my hard disk has a problem and was going to fail. The message said I needed to make a backup before the disk failed.
I tried making a backup on a DVD+R and bought a duplicate hard disk. I installed the hard disk but could never get the laptop to boot up with my backup DVD. I kept getting the message "no OS found".
I reinstalled the old hard disk and everything worked fine but same warning keeps popping up.
So I bought a new Windows 7 OS and installed the new hard disk. I then installed the new OS on the new disk. Everything seemed to load okay but now I can't get the WIFi connection to work.
I have been reading many of the post on this forum and tried a few things but nothing has helped so far. I hope I have just missed something simple that one of you savvy folks may see.
I hope I haven't made any misguided adjustments to the laptop that will just exasperate the problem.
Any suggestions will be appreciated............thanks, kent
