Some time ago, I began having trouble installing some programs using my user-with-admin-privileges account (the default account type), so I would just switch to the usually-hidden administrator account to do the installation.
Recently, that has failed for some programs, and there are some programs that cannot even be run from the ADMIN account: specifically, Microsoft's Fix-It for this problem and also gmer.exe.
I have Avast!, MBAM and SAS running in the background, and scans have shown an occasional "PUP" file but nothing in memory or the registry.
sfc /scannow runs w/o error.
MS "install repair" quits with "System file integrity check" error code 0c490 message.
Short of reinstalling Windows, what can I do to fix this?
It's most annoying that Fix-It will not execute!!
Thanks.
