microsoft framework 4.5

$

Hello,
When I last checked for updates, there was an option to update the framework to 4.5.1. I already have net framework 4, so is this necessary? I have vista. WHen I had XP I didn't download framework 4 because I thought it slowed down my computer.
Will my computer run faster and have fewer freezes if I do the update?

Thanks in advance

Basically, sometimes I switch my computer to Sleep Mode and leave it on Sleep Mode for a whole night. Sometimes it wakes up from Sleep Mode, but I still leave it, and it goes back to Sleep Mode after a while. It happens a few times, but that's not the problem.

When I wake up, I see that the computer is off. When I turn it on, it says that Windows hasn't shut down successfully. I select Start Windows Normally and hit enter. After everything has loaded, I see this:

Hey everyone, I was trying to reinstall windows 7 on laptop using a dvd. Everything seems to go smoothly until the very end. Do you guys have any idea what I might be doing wrong? Thanks in advance

So I'm trying to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (64 Bit) But I'm getting the error 0x80070005. The only AV software I'm using currently is MSE. CBS.log is too large of a file to upload and too many characters to include in this post so I've uploaded it to Dropbox. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w150e8z0j3muuyg/CBS.txt

Any other information required just ask. Thanks a ton.

Reinstalling Win7 off USB issues

Hey all, I'm a college student running windows 7 off of a HP Envy 4-1015dx. I started having issues with a BSOD siting iastor.sys as the cause (that's a story for another forum). After exhausting my options solving that, I decided to completely reinstall Windows 7, being as a factory restore wasn't doing the job. Being as my laptop doesn't have a disk drive, I created a bootable USB using an ISO file and microsoft's ISO to USB tool. The issue that I have is when I boot from the USB, I receive an error that "no drives are found" when asked to select a driver for installation. I know the ISO is good because I used it to reinstall Win7 on another laptop today. Many things that I have found in terms of solutions cite changing SATA settings in BIOS but it is locked in this model. Wondering what else to try from this point, before I give up and purchase a Mac.

HP Pavilion 15-n252sq - Can not install Windows 7 over Free Dos

Hello all,

I've recently bought a HP Pavilion 15-n252sq laptop, with Free Dos - unfortunately i can't install Windows 7 over it, due to the following error i keep receiveing in the Installation screen:

"Select the driver to be installed" - and regardless of the paths i have and the available folders, i can not seem to proceed wtih the W7 installation.

Please notice that, i've tried to use both a W7 DVD and also a bootable USB drive (and yes, connected in the USB 2.0 port and not USB 3.0 ) - but i always get to the same point where i have to select drivers.

Please also notice that the BIOS doesn't allow me to make any modifications except for some minor ones (like select boot priority, or enable USB 3.0), as the rest of the MAIN features are greyed out .

Can anyone please help me with this issue?

Regards,
Adrian

Computer won't recognize USB-devices properly anymore!

Hello, this is my first post on these forums, but I've gotten a lot of help here before from reading other threads. I'm now stuck with a weird issue that I can't figure out myself.

I was moving my stationary win7 computer between appartments today, as I do a lot. When i plugged it in at the new place, my usb headset and usb mouse were not working. They lit up, and the computer recognized them, but would not install any driver (immediately said that windows could not install the drivers), so I couldn't use my mouse or headset. Windows still thought that the headset was working, since the green bars were moving while i tried to play sound, and I could still change the volume through the headset. The only thing that was working as before was my Logitech G15 keyboard. I use a Logitech G35 headset and mx518 mouse, but the Logitech driver software would not recognize those two anymore either. I tried uninstalling the software, but it did not help. They were still not working at all. Reinstalling the software didn't help either. I tried deleting the USB-hub from device manager and rebooting, but no luck. I tried unplugging the computer for a while, but that did nothing either.

The only way I get my headset and mouse to work now is by plugging them both into my keyboard, which has 2 USB ports. Note that the keyboard still works just fine in all the motherboard's USB-ports, so the ports should not be faulty. I really don't understand what the problem is. I also tried making a recovery to a few days ago, but it didn't help.

I made a clean windows install, thinking that would surely fix the issue. It didn't. At first, the headset was working, as it had been plugged into a port on the MB as I installed windows. As soon as i plugged it out though (needed when installing the driver software from Logitech) it stopped working again. Mouse was still not working at all.

Am i missing something really simple here? I'm not any good at this stuff but I've tried reading around and haven't been able to find a solution.

TL;DR: moved computer to new location, headset and mouse not working in any of the motherboard's USB-ports after that. Keyboard still works in all ports, and headset+mouse work through keyboard, so theyre not broken. Tried clean windows 7 ultimate install, nothing changed.

PLEASE help me out! :thumb:

Accessing a removable disk via command prompt?

There's a really long story behind this all, but the tl;dr of the issue is that I want to move a file from my phone onto my computer, however, I have absolutely no idea what the file path is, given the path seems to be "This PC\HTC One XL\Internal storage", I have absolutely no idea how to navigate to this in command prompt. Please help!

Forgot to mention, my OS is Windows 8.1

[SOLVED] Windows Update Repeatedly Installed

Windows 7 is trying to install the same update repeatedly.

I've already tried this option but it didn't work. There doesn't seem to be any other fixes available online.

This is the update name
Code:

Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2825635) 32-Bit Edition
Do you have any idea how to fix this?

CPU usage Win7

Please excuse my ignorance if that is the case.
I'm running Win7 with a Phenom X4 945 processor (3.5 Ghz).
I run Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, Malewarebytes Pro, VPN software and a fairly expensive reminder software (desktop reminder 2).
Given this, would it sound normal that when watching a Netflix film on Google Chrome that I'd be using 1/3 of my CPU?
I do keep a clean machine, but if this sounds off, maybe I'll need to play with some settings or services. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks, netsirk.

Computer freezes up, starts and stops

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop, it's a few years old. I'm on Windows 7. The problem I'm having is that the computer will be running fine, and suddenly the computer will begin to start and stop, running so slow that I have to reboot. I can see in the Task Manager that the CPU usage fluctuates between 0% and a normal level. All other indications of the computer 'working' - the processing light on the keyboard, the movement of the mouse, the sound of the computer working - all start and stop in sync. It's like the whole system freezes every half second and then unfreezes again. After rebooting it goes back to normal.

The problem started back in March. At first it happened several times in one week. Then it seemed to go away for a while, and now it's been happening somewhat frequently again (two days in a row just now). I can't think of anything I did back in March that would have caused it, nor can I think of a pattern of what actions trigger it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Windows 7 restarts at disk.sys

Hi all,
I recently acquired a brand new Asus notebook PC model X551C. It came defaulted with winows 8.1 OS. I have since updated the BIOS and made attempts to downgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate x64. This is an original microsoft DVD that I have previously used to successfully install windows on two other machines with no hiccups.
At first attempt, I received an error message due to the GPT configuration of the HDD. So I booted in command prompt and used diskpart to convert to MBR. I then restarted the installation.
Everything seemed successful until the first reboot. The system cuts off during boot up and restarts. So I chose safe mode, and the last successful driver to load is disk.sys. So I binged around to see if I could find a solution, but everyone else who had this issue either reported a hardware issue or some other irrelevant solution.
One more thing, I successfully reinstalled windows 8 just for mental satisfaction and retried the windows 7 with the exact same outcome! :banghead:
Can anyone provide any help? All assistance will be appreciated.

Wireless settings not saving since authentication change

$

Hello!

I've got an issue with my networking setup. Recently I changed our router to use WPA-2 authentication (EDIT: It was using WEP before). However, this seems to have bungled up my wireless. Occasionally when I'll turn the computer on, it wont automatically connect to my network. I'll see my SSID in the list of visible networks, but it's got a red 'X' next to it. It says that it has improper settings. I have to go to my saved wireless networks and delete it, and then reconnect.

However, sometimes the 'old' network will spontaneously pop back in my saved networks before I'm able to reconnect to the new one. I'm sure I could just change my SSID, but I'd rather not.

It might be worth mentioning that I occasionally use a wired connection from the same router on this computer. I have yet to determine if that has anything to do with it.

Any ideas?

I'll try to grab some screenshots next time it happens.

Thanks!
Jonathan

Slow bank website

I have recently started having problems with my bank website (https://www.nwolb.com/) – each page loads very slowly and sometimes I get timed out. I don’t seem to have problems with any other secure websites, and it doesn’t matter which browser I use (I’ve tried IE, Chrome, Firefox, Opera and AOL!). I done a couple of malware scans and nothing shows up, and I get no problem navigating this website on my Android tablet. Has anyone any ideas where I can start looking to remedy this problem? HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx continuous beeping during startup

I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx running:
windows 7 service pack 1
Home Premium 64 bit
i5-2410m 2.3GHz
8 GB Ram

My issue is that the computer has suddenly started beeping continuously while it boots. Boot time is also very long, much longer than usual. It drives me crazy almost when it starts up, that beeping is horrible and non-stop.
The machine has also been running hot when it's doing nothing at all program-wise, as in when I first boot it up and let it sit there, it almost burns me to have it in my lap.
Another issue that only happened once and was fixed with a restart, the mouse quit responding and whatever webpage I was on would scroll to the bottom and stay there despite efforts to scroll back up.
I'm going to college this summer and taking two internet courses on top of two paper-heavy lecture courses. I need this laptop in running condition for those school needs. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Vista Duplicate Search Results

Hi,

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. I just searched for some files and there was a message on the top of the screen that searching could be slow in unindexed locations -- do you want to add C:\Documents to the index. I clicked yes. Now every search shows the matching files twice! C:/Documents must have been indexed already, although why it suggested to do it again, I don't know -- oh, yes I do, it's Vista.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.
