Cannot set up secondary gmail email account

I am in the process of setting up a home business and wish to set up a separate business email account with low set up costs. I currently have a personal Hotmail and Gmail accounts but wish to create a secondary Gmail account for my business. I do not have a registered domain name. I tried numerous ways to set up a secondary gmail account without success it would initially accept the new gmail address but when it would ask to activate the account, it would not allow me to login to the account to do this. It would come up with a message advising that the account address is unknown. So I would again go through the process and it would then advise that the username is already taken, so I just keep on going around in circles. I then went into Google Apps for business in which it would ask me to register my domain name for a fee of $13 per year. However, the domain name would be registered under the two option provided Enom and Go Daddy. Neither in which I am familiar with. Can you please offer some assistance. My first preference would be setting up a secondary gmail account and if not is google apps for business a reliable avenue in registering my business name in order to obtain a professional separate business email account and if so which provider is the better option. Keeping in mind I wish to keep the costs at a minimum at this stage.

windows 7 is crashing

several times a day with no apparent reason my laptop crashes. I am running windows 7 and when I asked a tech friend he said it could be windows updating. I am starting to doubt that........ this is 5-6 times a day. It is impossible to check the internet for problems when I don't know the reasons for the crash and no idea where to find the reason. What

I did see sometimes in my searches is that chrome was being blamed. How do I know if it is chrome causing the crashes ? when I restart chrome it tells me I have not shut down problerly and offers to open my pages I had previously which is practical.

It is always open when computer crashes of course as I am often on facebook or checking my mail. I did think of switching to firefox but find it a bit sluggish and not as confortable to use as chrome. Would deleting chrome and reinstalling it help perhaps ?

thanks in advance for any help,
Joanne

Hi,

I just downgraded my new laptop from windows 10 to 7 and I'm missing a few drivers and I don't know what they correspond to or I can't find them on the Lenovo website. They are
  • PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller
  • SM Bus Controller
  • Universal Serial Bus Controller
  • USB2.0-CRW

If anyone could point me in the right direction with a link that'll be great thank you.

Windows Update is Frozen (Windows 7 64-Bit)

Windows Update for Windows 7 64-Bit has been hanging in 'Checking for Updates...' mode. It used to hang at 0% (0KB) until I made some changes (listed below).

My computer is equipped with avast! Free Antivirus 2016 and Windows Firewall and my Internet connection (AT&T U-Verse on 2WIRE) appears to be functioning normally.

I have attempted to do the following:
  • Choose one update instead of all.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Shut down the computer, unplug, and drain residual power.
  • Search Google for solutions.
  • Disable avast! and check for Windows Updates again.
  • Run Microsoft Fix It.
  • Use Auglogics Registry Cleaner to find errors and fix them.
  • Run avast! to check for viruses.
  • Run MalwareBytes to check for malware.
  • Purge the Windows\SoftwareDistribution directory.
  • Run a verified .bat file to reset Windows Update back to default state (logs and history).
  • Uninstall avast! Antivirus and check for Windows Updates without antivirus software.
  • Scan with Windows Defender.
  • Reinstall avast! Antivirus and scan.
  • Quick-Search these forums for answers.
In addition, I had virus definitions from September 2015, but avast! told me that the definitions were the most recent. After reinstalling the software, the definitions appear to be from today. Despite all of the aforementioned efforts, I appear to have not made any significant progress. I am not certain what else to do at this point and while the computer functions and I can proceed with work, I must have functioning updates.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi folks,
I am running Labview (NI (national instrument)) scripts on my Vista (Vostro 1520 Dell notebook). when my computer crashed last time (last week), all my Labview scripts still runs, but very slow. The Microsoft Windows keep sending me a message: "Ikads stopped working and was closed". Ikads is NI (national instrument) file and probably this problem is connected with Labview scripts operation.
I was trying to fix this problem, but without notable success so far. Can someone please advice me how to fix the Ikdas file?

Thanks Vladush

Hi everybody :

After booting up, I noticed and entry labeled "Offercast291_.exe. I checked in Control Panel, thinking I could delete this. No listing for it. I checked in the Registry for Offercast291. Didn't find anything. I DID notice, in the dialog box where you can HIDE or SHOW these icons in the Notifications, this entry. Didn't find anything. I wonder if it's an infection. Any ideas ? I'm running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.

Audio stutter, judder, delays. DPC Latency issues

$

I'm having an issue that is really frustrating and I cannot get to the bottom of it. I hope someone here may be able to help.

For a month or so I have been having issues with audio stutter or judder whenever I play multimedia or audio files on my system.

It started suddenly, but I haven't been able to relate it to anything in particular.

I've identified that it is a DPC latency issue (using DPC Latency Checker and DPC Mon) and in the course of investigation and attempting to correct it so far have tried
  • SFC
  • tweaking.com windows repair tool
  • Memtest
  • Prime95
  • Updated audio and video drivers
  • Updated Realtek PCIe GBE Card drivers
  • Ruled out IRQ conflicts
  • Reinstalled MediaMonkey (my main music software manager)

No issues were identified and none of these has yielded persistent results. Rebooting helps for a brief while as does uninstalling the Realtek ethernet card

DPC Mon seems to indicate ndis.sys as the main issue, but ataport.sys and tcpip.sys are also running values >1ms

I ran a WPA trace and that seemed to indicate either dxgkrnl.sys or ndis.sys were the problem.

Reading forums this seems to be a big issue with a lot of people. For some disabling hardware works, for others it's a software conflict, some people get respite from using legacy drivers for yet others nothing works. A lot of people think this is a Win 7 issue and nothing to do with 3rd party gear.

I'm thoroughly confused.

I'm prepared to do a clean install, I'm prepared to installed a dedicated sound card but only if it will solve this issue - some people have suggested this problem remains after doing those things too.

Please can anyone help? I'm at the end of the road here.:banghead:

These are my system details:
OS:Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 B55 Processor, AMD64 Family 16 Model 4 Stepping 3
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 16382 Mb

[SOLVED] I've messed up trying to fix a problem

Hi,
I have been trying to fix a problem with Office 2010 not installing and a solution that worked for lots of people is renaming the (Programdata) Microsoft Help folder to Microsoft Help.old.

I tried this but after re-starting pc almost all the folders in the start>All programs have disappeared.

To compound the issue System restore is turned off.

Is there anything I can do without completely re-installing?

Printer Driver Installation Problems

For 5 days I have been trying to set up a new printer. It is a Canon Pixma MG2965 model.

So far I have tried the following:

- installed about 15 times from the CD, the Canon website and links sent by Canon. Usually I get to the end and it says installed successfully but when I try to use there is a message about drivers not installed or similar

- I have uninstalled all HP software (previous printer)

- Done a "clean reboot"

- disabled the Windows firewall and Kaspersky anti virus while installing

- unplugged the USB cable, turned the PC on and off and changed the cable. The printer did not come with a USB cable, presumably because it is a wifi printer but will also print by cable.

- downloaded several driver fix type programs

- Uninstalled Windows service pack 1 (reinstalled again)

- made changes in the registry based on a google search

Probably done a couple of other things I have forgotten?

I am using Windows 7 Professional.

Tried the Windows troubleshooting tool.

I have had numerous interactions with Canon who have now said they cant help because I was able to print from my Tablet. They say that shows there is nothing wrong with the printer.

I am reading that as a last resort I should uninstall and reinstall Windows 7 but I dont have a disc as the PC came with it preloaded. Not sure I am comfortable about doing that without a disc.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated!!

Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically

Yesterday while trying to fix a port issue to play a video game on my PC, I uninstalled Avast because a forum I was on suggested my firmware software could be causing the issue.

I was planning on launching the game when my computer crashed and gave the the repair Windows window. It is now in a constant loop of starting and shutting down and the ONLY window I get is the same repair window which doesn't find anything.

I looked this problem up and found the post by Lethorio in 2013 and he had the EXACT issue. I followed the post until the very end did everything that was suggested but nada.

In MY case...I uninstalled Avast already so I had no files to delete in the config or drivers file in the registry.

I do not have an optical drive unit nor a Windows 7 disk.

I'm begging for help at this point.
Thank you

Slow startup to Windows

Hi there,

I've just set up my PC again after a long time of it being stored and rarely used at my parent's house. For a long time now (even before I last used it) it's been incredibly slow to start up and has resulted in me just putting the computer to sleep rather than shutting it down completely.

When I connected everything up again after the travel from my parent's, it seems to have got even slower, with even the most lightweight app such as Google Chrome being slow to start and freezing at least a couple of times.

My first thoughts are that a wireless adapter is slowing the start up but even with this unplugged it still takes a long time before the computer boots to the desktop (around 10 minutes or more before it is usable).

Please could someone advise?

Cheers,

Andrew

My son has lost the password required to launch Microsoft 7 OS. He does not have a password reset disk. Aside from wiping the hard drive or reinstalling the OS, is there any other work around to reset the password?

Thanks for any help.

Unknown HDD, Not Initialized (Help)

About 5 days ago my Seagate 3TB Barracuda HDD started running very slow. Transfer speeds dropped to 182kb/s it previously was around 25.6mb/s. So I started backing up as much as I could, but after 5 days and only getting about 300GB backed up I decided to run chkdsk on the drive. That was a bad idea because now I cannot access the drive at all, and I still have 2.12TB of data that isn't backed up.

Drive has been in use since November 2013
It had over 106,000 files on it.

Things that I tried before Chkdsk:

The drive letter used to be M:
In My Computer I had the drive renamed but it changed itself to local disk

Seatools - Passed all the tests when I was able to access the drive. But the drive info said the power on hours were 0 and the drive temperature was 32 degrees F, other external drives were showing around 30,000 power on hours and temperatures around 130-136 degrees F, the one internal drive showed 72 degrees F

Crystal Disk Info - Showed Unknown Drive and no Info

Crystal Disk Benchmark: Took a long time to run but I posted a screenshot of the results

I plugged the drive into a laptop, had the same results

I tried replacing both the power cable in the USB cable, same result

I tried plugging the USB into a USB 2.0 port instead of the 3.0 that it had been in, still the same exact transfer speed

I tried changing the HDD's policies to Better Performance instead of Quick Removal. Same results

I tried to update driver but it says its up to date

I restarted the PC 5 times

Things I tried after chkdsk:

Tried Initializing the drive several times to both MBR and GPT, I posted screenshots of this as well, It didn't work it popped up and said The system cannot find the file specified.

I tried changing the HDD's policies to Better Performance instead of Quick Removal. Same results

I removed the drive from the enclosure and looked around the circuit boards for any damage and reseated the drive into the enclosures SATA controller.

By listening to the sounds coming from the drive it sounds like it is spinning up normally, no grinding or odd sounds.

I tried running GetDataBack for NTFS but it does not see the drive.

I tried to update driver but it says its up to date

I tried restarting the PC 3 times

I tried plugging the drive back into the laptop but it does not recognize the drive, it says the USB device plugged in may be malfunctioning try plugging it in again.

I tried using a portable SATA cable off a portable Seagate 500GB drive, but with no way for the drive to have power plugged in it, it did nothing.

Things I have not tried:

I do not have a SATA and power cable to try using it in my PC as an internal drive. So it is possible there is a problem with the enclosures SATA controller I currently have no way to try the drive without it. If anyone thinks this may be a possible solution I will order the cables.

Here are screenshots of PC's Info, Disk Management, and the HDD's Properties, Benchmark results etc.

Working on a HP Pavilion p7-1254 Quad Core - A6-3620 8GB ram - Win7
The icons on the desktop can only be activated in Safe Mode. In Regular mode there is a second or so activity then all is like a still life painting.
Any ideas? There are no system restore points. Win7 repair disk finds nothing and sfc /scannow says there are no anomalies.
In safe mode the man can still save his docs and pictures.

Out of the blue, I suddenly have little Firefox icons superimposed on top of many of the icons on my desktop, including icons for video games, mp3 files, video files, my router settings, and pdf files. Any thoughts on what is causing this and how I can remove them? I have attached an example of what I am seeing.
