cannot reinstall win7hp

Hi,
I have need for clean install of win7 but cannot get past "where do you want to install windows?" screen. HD is clean and unallocated.
Message= "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an exsisting system partition."
I tried formatting drive to NTFS and still no go .
I think its going into the shop to be charged a $million to fix if you cannot help me.I dont have time to list everthing i tried but may be this will get things started.please help somebody....
