Laptop can't connect to internet..no ip address??

Ok so I have 2 computers in the house, one a regular old Dell Microsoft XP, the other my Toshiba Windows 7 laptop (excuse the inaccuracies of identifying them lol). My Dell is working fine now after it was making some weird noises. I got the internet to work through here, which is where I'm typing this from. However, my laptop won't connect to the internet at all. At first a message popped up yesterday saying there was an "ip address conflict;" internet kept connecting and disconnecting. I tried some stuff, tried getting a new ip address or whatever. Tried connecting again to my router (Linksys E1000) thru my laptop with the "Easy SetUp Key thing. Please heeelp, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do! Is there something wrong with my laptop altogether? Is it now unable to connect to anything AT ALL? ='((
