Will my SimpleTech SimpleDrive 96300-40001-001 work on WIN7?

I've not used forever.

Just tried to hook up to PC tower and realized the USB cable is the small rectangle one, not the newer simmer USBs. New tower doesn't have that size plug in.

Worth getting a new cord to connect both? Thoughts?

Thankski,

Kimski

Black Screen at Startup

After turning on the computer it begins to Startup, but the green progress dots at the screen's bottom move me into a black screen with no further progress. The unit functions properly and gets online if in Safe Mode.

From my research, this problem is fairly common. How can I fix it before being forced to take it in for service?

Why is my computer getting slower but not using more resources

My computer is kinda old, about 7 years, I've upgraded a few parts and done a fresh install of windows in that time, including replacing the hard drive because some of the issues I was having seemed like the hard drive was dying (turns out it wasn't) but one thing I've noticed is that it seems to be consistently getting slower.
I've run multiple virus scans, have a firewall, defragged, cleaned up my registry, used a program to delete junk files from around my computer, disabled programs in msconfig I wasn't using and obviously I don't have **** on my computer like toolbars, yet it keeps slowing down. This always seems to happen with every computer I use. Sometimes reinstalling windows does the trick but not always.
My resource monitor always says my computer is using almost no resources, even while I'm struggling to scroll down on facebook because my computer is lagging so bad, even when I try to minimize firefox that has one tab open and the tab is google, it will lag. But it comes and goes too, some days, hours, or minutes it will lag intensely, then it can go days/hours/minutes without lagging again. Also the lag doesn't seem to be related to resource use because games like fallout 4 don't lag at all even on the highest settings, netflix will lag, but the video, once playing, will not. The only things that lag seem to be related to the windows interface, like firefox, steam, explorer related tasks like opening folders and minimizing windows.

What causes this, and can I fix it without reinstalling windows.

Repair Install of Windows 7

I have an Acer Apsire 5733 laptop with an OEM version of Windows 7. One of the RAM modules fails MemTest86 (errors reported) and I think this has resulted in corruption of some of the Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM) system files. When I run sfc /scannow it flags up errors but is unable to repair these errors. I want to avoid a factory reinstall - is there a way to do a repair installation of this OEM version Windows 7? I have a Windows 7 SP1 DVD (non-OEM) for another computer. Can I use that?

Using Memorex CD-RW Disks

Hi everybody :

I formatted a Memorex CD-RW disk. And then proceeded to transfer data files to this disk. The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't "drag-and-drop" files. (I'm backing up my Sketchup projects). When I right-clicked on Drive E, the PASTE option wasn't listed. Before, when I did this same procedure, this option WAS available. I checked the Properties for this disk. Yes....it showed there was a disk in this drive. And that it was a rewritable. I COULD, however, open the file with Sketchup and re-save it...this time to the disk. I checked the disk to see if these files were actually on the disk.....yes they were. I'm not sure what to ckeck to "enable" the drag-and-drop function. I'm using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. With 3Gb RAM. I'm not sure what other information to include in this message. Thanks

Hi everybody :

I'm having a problem dragging-and-dropping files from my Pictures Folder to D (Optical) drive. I notice that the PASTE option is now missing. I CAN open the file (with the proper software) and THEN Save to the D drive. I checked Permissions......Properties on the D drive. I'm backing up to the D drive. Copying Sketchup files. In Pictures Folder I click on COPY, but when I click on D drive there is no PASTE. I'm using Memorex CD-RW disks. I formatted this with InCd. Did a FULL format. I'm using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit......3Gb RAM.

Thanks

I have been using my Logitech MX620 cordless laser mouse for years but have finally decided that I should try to get the right click function to work!

The wired Dell mouse works fine, but the Logitech cordless one stubbornly ignores the right button.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Checking Permissions

Hi everybody :

I'm using Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.
I've got a few questions about PERMISSIONS. After creating a 3-Dd object (Using Sketchup). Out of curiosity, I checked the PROPERTIES for this file. Then I clicked on the SECURITY tab. Under this tab, this is what I found.
(PILLOW BODY CURVE name of file)
GROUP or USER NAMES
Lists my name as Administrator

PERMISSIONS FOR PILLOW BODY CURVE
Administrators\my name\/Administratory
Everything is checked (Read....Write....Change...etc) but greyed out

USERS/my name\USERS
Everything is checked but NOT greyed out

AUTHENTICATED USERS
Everything is checked but NOT greyed out.
Question : If I'm the Administrator (and logged under my name) and sole owner, why would all the "permissions" be greyed out...even though everything is checked ?
I'm not having any "technical difficulties" with my System or software. Just curious as to why permissions are displayed like this.
Thanks

Just noticed this.

I have a DT PC in my living room (attchd to a 40"tv) with a USB printer.

If I send a document from my HP i3 laptop to the PC it cannot of course print until that PC has booted up. However, I noticed to day that the document printed BEFORE I had put my password into the DT PC.

That tells this computer numpty that the PC is at least 'on the copper network' and possibly the internet BEFORE I have logged it on?

Or has the recent ransomware attack made me parawhatsit?!

Both machines are W7 Home P 64.

Dave.

Hello everybody! My computer is Dell Optiplex 780, Memory 4GB, original HD 2Tb OS 7 64 bit and secondary HD 1 Tb with fresh installed windows vista 32 bit and dedicated to work on it only for photoshop and some times for upgrade or download subsidiary software. NOT for serving internet. Tried to download windows update, security patches and receive error code 8024A000. Windows could not search for new updates! I check all internet and do not fined any help. I run sfc /sgannow without any success. Software Windows Vista from CD which came with my old computer Dell Dimension E520.
Second question is it possible to find updates and where to fine them because vista is not supported any more by Microsoft?
Any help I deeply appreciated.

Changing E-mail Clients

Hi everybody :

I need some advice for changing my e-mail client. Currently, I'm using Windows Live 2012 (Windows 7 Pro 32-bit OS). Seems like Windows Live is starting to screw up a little. I've been doing some research about different e-mail programs. I'm thinking about switching to GMail. I've been reviewing the features of it. It seems okay. I just want to be totally sure before I "jump in". (Like wading into a deep lake vs just jumping in and "go for it") One of the features mentions being able to pick up my POP3 mail from Windows Live. There must be something that I don't know......yet. Advice ?

Missing Download Navigator

Hi All...I'm getting a message on my wife's computer:

Says..."Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\Ann\AppData\Local\Temp\EPSDDNAVI_Temp\DownloadNavigator\MEPUpdater\EST\MEP.EXE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again."

Has to do with our shared Epson L210 printer. She is told there is an updated version but when she goes thru the download process, this message comes up. I can print fine from mine but somehow something has got deleted on her computer. To me it looks like this important DownloadNavigator file was stuffed into a 'Temp' folder. She recently added CCleaner and it's possible this temp folder got deleted.

Can you tell me how I can retrieve this missing program?

Thanks!

For the second time in 6 months my win 7 has gone through a update sequence that windows failed. The system then goes through a sort of undoing process. Very lengthy process. After witch I have lost roughly 18GB of drive space. I did a drive clean-up only to regain under 2GB of space back.

sound familiar to anyone? Can help? please
